Kindergarten News
20 December 2011

We are very busy and excited in our classroom as we prepare for and anticipate the holidays to come!
Last week, we were joined by a group of students from the high school and their teacher Julie Torres to learn about Mexico.  Learning about another country and another culture is part of our social studies curriculum.  We are joined in this study by the first and second grades and look forward to our next meeting  January 12.  If you know or have any resources or know of anyone who could speak to the group about Mexico. please let me know!
Another part of our social studies curriculum is learning about the different holidays that different cultures celebrate and the different ways that different cultures celebrate the same holidays.  We have been learning about Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, the Winter Solstice, and Christmas.
This year the Kindergarten is joining the first and second grades for a "Make and Take" holiday craft session.  This will happen Friday morning with several centers where the children can make a variety of holiday decorations.
This Friday, December is an early release day for the students at SRES.  DISMISSAL WILL BE AT 1:00 PM.
I wish you all a very happy and safe holiday season and a very happy new year!
