School-Wide Title I Program Information

The Saxtons River Elementary School has had a “School-Wide” Title I program for many years.  This designation is made based upon the percentage of lower income families that the school serves.  In a school-wide program, resources (such as Title I Teachers) are available to serve all students in ways that best meet the instructional needs of the whole school.  This is as opposed to a “Targeted” Title I program, where individual students are identified that need additional help to meet academic standards and receive targeted remedial help.
Some research has suggested that the school-wide model is a much more effective way of helping students learn.  We also think that the flexibility of the school-wide model best serves the diverse needs of our children.  In this way, all the students at Saxtons River School benefit from our School-Wide Title I program. School wide Title I services currently provided at the SRES include:
- Two .6 Title I teachers serving grades K-3 and 4-6, respectively.
- Summer instruction in math and reading available to all students.

Information for parents about summer services is sent out in May so that parents may plan their summers accordingly. General information about the Title I program, including a yearly parent survey about the program is sent home with the packet of materials at the beginning of each school year.
If you would like more information about Title I services at SRES, please feel free to contact the principal at 869-2637 or Mrs. Dawn Bazin at
